Hi there,

I tried using the search function to no avail. on this topic -- I'm using a three amp system (All Orions) that developed a turn on thump when changing the head unit. A Pioneer head unit was removed and replaced by a 1998 factory Volkswagen unit with changer (Panasonic). Another installer I know has seen this before and doesn't think using an inline cap will fix the problem. Anyone have a suggestion to quiet the 'hard' turn-on of the factory unit? what are you using as yout amp turn on? I doubt the factory deck has a proper amp turn on lead...might have to install a seperate togel switch or hook up a relay to your ingition accesory wire so they turn on with the key

This particular radio has provisions for 'active' speakers (individually ampified) -- Therefore is equipped with front and rear preouts and a trigger wire (Blaupunkt actually sells the adapter I'm using to put rca connectors and a trigger wire onto the back of the deck). Everything works and sounds great, I just don't think the radio is equipped with one of the 'soft' turn-ons that modern headunits provide - so I'm looking for a way to delay or quiet the initial turn-on. K.

I used a 10k resistor on a blaupunkt amp that I was having that kind of problem with. Don't know if it's going to work in yours but you can give it a try.

It may be that the amps are not turning on/off at the same time as the headunit. Try installing a toggle switch to manually turn the amps on/off while the headunit is already on.

Running 3 amps. Are you daisy chaining the remote line? Most headunits can only supply enough voltage through the remote line to properly turn on 2 amps. For 3+ amps you want to either tap into the ignition harness or use a relay to supply enough voltage to the remote turn-ons.
