Hey guys, have a few questions. I'm in the midst of finishing up my install, or so I thought. After putting in the Head Unit, front and rear speakers, the sub, and two amps, the system works, sort off. I now have a whine in the amps that matches my cars revs, meaning when i step on the gas, the whine grows higher pitched, and when i break it gets lower. LOL. Heres the other thing, my sounds goes out every once in a while. The Head unit stays on, just the sound goes off. If anyone has any sugestions, or you guys need more info, Im looking forward to responding. Thanks.

hey. i have had your problem before. one quick fix that sometimes helps is to move your ground of you amp and to put a connector on it incase if you are using bare wire. another way to fix the noise is to buy a noise suppressor. they work by having the rca's from your head unit plug into it and then it has its own rca's that you plug into your amp. they run about 12 bucks at wal-mart but are a sure cure.

You could also look into getting an alternator filter for the power line.
As far as the headunit/no sound problem... is it a Sony? I only ask because Sony's are renound for skipping (shutting off all sound but keeping the headunit turned on) at excessive bass levels. I know from experience as well, which is why I went back to Alpine  ------------- Squirrel

How did you run your power and signal wires through the car?

Thanks for the responses guys. It is a Sony. Who knew they suck. Um, I ran 4 gauge from the battery to the trunk then split it into to 8 for the amps. I grounded the amps using 8 gauge wire connected to bolts which screw in behing the seats (into the frame i hope). I ran the rca's on the opposite side along with the remote turn on for the amps, could this be the problem?? Also, ive connected the remote turn on, to the radio fuse in my fuse console (had it connected to the Power Antenna wire, which only turned on when the radio function was on), could this be causing noise? Thanks for the help guys.

I had the same problem, I checked all the wiring and found it was coming from the hot wire from the battery that i ran back to the amp. I relocated the wire to a different hotspot, and it seemed to stop untill i tested the woofers for sound with a highly amplified mic, and found they were still humming while i reved. My solution? I took the whole hot wire from under the hood out because i located it 4 or 5 dif times resulting in the same problem. I ran my rem wire from under the steering column dirrectly to the hotwire on the amplifier. rem and 12v input in the amp get power when the key is turned now. Could just relocate wiring etc/filter and what not, but simple solution just splice from rem to hotwire. hope that helps some
