there are a lot of wiring diagram questions on this sight.  I mainly use MAID XL and TECHSOFT programs, but am slightly unsure if it is legal for me to provide diagrams for other people on-line.  Is this a breach of any-type of copyright laws?

You should be fine as long as you give credit to the program you used, and you're not giving away the actual program.

Most of the diagrams that get posted or sent are from the available online databases (JL and Rockford mainly). Some of us modify those pictures to meet specific wiring questions that are not provide for in those databases. I have yet to see that kind of post questioned or have have litigation imposed. If you're using non shareware/freeware programs to design your pics, then like Lebult said you should be fine as long as you're only distributing the output and not the actual licensed program
