heres a couple of newb questions

how do dual voice coils work and what purpose do they serve?? ( i understand how a single voil coil is used with the cone to produce sound waves)

and what purpose to Capacitors serve in an audio system??

Caps are supposed to be used for voltage regulation, mainly in SQ systems. But a lot of people try to use them to fix the always popular "dimming lights" syndrome. But it's a bandaid, not a fix. And it can also cause more of a strain on an alternator if the alternator is not the correct amperage.

As for DVC subs, here's a good link to JL Audio's DVC FAQ Tutorial. There's a lot of good info there, it's where a lot of us were directed to when we asked the same question posted_image

In a nutshell, dual voice coil give the consumer more wiring options, meaning dual voice coil subs can be paired with other dual/single voice coil subs to raise or preferably lower the total resistance to an amplifier, therefore making it more efficient..
