I have dealt with a Lanzar deck. I am happy with it.  It puts out a clean, strong signl and is easy to use. I have the "Stealth face".

I have also dealth with a Volfenhag 12". At low volumes it sounded good, but when you turn it up too high it starts to sound funny.

I do have to say that the brands you have listed at all lower end brands. There is a lot better out there for not much more money. If I were you I would reconsider these.

hahaha, these are all the so called "cheap" brands
I was going to get an SPL amp, but I got a deal on a Phoenix Gold amp instead.

The stats of the SPL Series III seem pretty good, but I havnt tried or heard them myself.

Good luck

visonik isnt cheap. their stuff looks good.

but I and many others would say spend the money and go for MB quart stuff. the reference series is pretty cheap. but they sound great. there subs are good too.

ironfistjohn ...it really depends on how much u want to spend ... good head unit will give u sound source too, coz the signal will given from the headunit and the speaker is only playing whatever the signal given......

i am pretty sure if u spend alittle more that, so you wont thinking of changing it again in another couple months (like i did posted_image)

Panasonic, ALPINE, RF, and more.....

:)

I would not recommend any of the brads above. What are you looking for and what is your budget?

when it comes to head unit i use panasonic,it is the best and only that i have used in db dragracing....great antiskip features and very clean sound....i have won a many a contests with audiobahn subs and with aura amps....also used to run the aura force series subs in comp, as well....the only brands i would run out of the list i put up is visonik and digital audio....i was just wanting to get some feedback on the other brands listed, that people have used....

panasonic is regarded as the poorest SQ deck out of the major brands first off...they sound like ass and are designed cheaply and poorly to have a million useless features and be flashy so that young kids and girls will buy them...

but since you are running audiobahn and aura, I guess sound quality isnt really in your vocabulary, or at least it has no relevance to you, so any of these low end budget brands will probably be just great...

for most people, the fact that they are poorly built and arent capable of doing what their ads claim may be a bit of a turnoff...

So harsh but yet so true. I've got a Panasonic deck in my wifes truck, it serves its purpose. Its a nice deck, BUT, sq wise, it sucks when compared to my Eclipse deck. Course you said for db drags so i guess sq doesnt fit in when you just want something louder than hell. But either way, have no experience with any of the names you listed so i cant bash them, well except for pyle, they've always sucked. Have heard mixed reviews on boss stuff, everything else no idea but around here, gonna see alot of people bash those brands so good luck!!

Eclipse Fing own IMO. Too bad they are expensive and generally ugly. I got mine for the performance, not the looks.

Everyone of the brands you have mentioned above are low end brands. I got to be honest with you, you will be dissapointed with any of these products. It's worth it to spend the money on a decent brand.

well, it looks to me like you found an m&m electronics magazine???

1.soundstorm a rip of soundstream...garbage

3.boss   have had good experience with amps, they arent bad for a lower end brand. wouldnt recommend any of their other line of audio

4.visonik   had a couple subs....garbage

5.spl also known as soundstream, is now garbage, old stuff is great though. they were bought out by another company

6.volfenhag   garbage

7.lanzar   vibe amps are excellent

8.crunch   ehh, they're ok, as far as the amps go

9.pyle   garbage

Eclipse ugly eh, lol.....I'll agree they aren't the prettiest things out there, but its like my installer told me. If you want "pretty christmas lights" in your car, go buy a Kenwood or Pioneer or Clarion or what not, if you want a good quality radio buy an Eclipse. Now before i piss off everyone i am NOT bashing any of the radios mentioned, my installer is..lol. I will give him credit though, I've used Alpines which i loved, even had a Panasonic which was decent and is now in my wifes truck, but sq wise, they cant touch the Eclipse. Money wise, I gave $280 for the Eclipse. The Alpines and Kenwoods were between $400 and $500 so which is more expensive.

Most of the top components in car audio look like the cheapest crap you have ever seen. I guess when you have a top quality product you don’t have to make it look nice for it to sell. But I see an awful lot of crap that looks like it’s the best stuff on the planet but sounds like sh*t (not to mention any names).

you need to read a bit more, and more importantly you shouldnt say things you havent verified...Soundstream did have a line of subs which used SPL in the name, but Soundstream is still around, and as their own name, not as SPL...they have gone downhill a bit, but are still better than anything else mentioned in this thread...

You are correct Big Purds.

Soundstream SPL subs were available through the late 90s up till a year or 2 ago. They are AMAZING subs. I have 2 15s running custom installed in my 95 civic hatch. They say 400 watts, but Im running about 1000 a piece and they love it. I hit 153db this summer... pretty damn impressive for 5 year old equipment.

Like Purds said, SPL is not soundstream, they are a different company. Soundstream has become a bit of a lower end audio line, thanks to being bought out by the same guys that own Boss, Pyramid, and other CRAP audio companies. Thankfully though, Soundstream has just gone under restructuring. I can't wait to see the new stuff. The stuff the last couple years isn't great, but like he said, still better than any of the other brands you listed. If you want incredible quality, and don't mind buying used stuff, get some of the older Soundstream stuff. It's cheap compared to buying new stuff, and it's worlds better.

well, damn...maybe i am wrong about the SPL being soundstream, but i argued with one of my friends for over an hour, he said that SPL is a name under soundstream. could be wrong, for all you critics out there

He probably saw the Soundstream SPL subs and thought SPL was the company. On the subs the letters SPL are really big... he probably didn't even see the soundstream above it.

Just to clarify that they are not the same.

Soundstream's website: https://www.soundstream.com
SPL's website: https://www.splusa.net

lol bberman I cant agree more with you in alot of instances...cosmetics can be very deceiving...there are getting to be more and more subs that have these huge ass magnets and heavy rubber surrounds just like the top quality subs and when you put them in a box and start giving them juice, they pop and fizzle just like the rest of the budget audio brands...

You are right. Go to the SPL website for example, and look at there "best" subs. They look like monsters... but I've heard them before... and they are horrid. Where as my Soundstream SPL 15s, have relativily small magnets compared to most modern day speakers, BUT, since they are designed so well, they hammer like nothing else.

as a car audio installer,i was basiscally wanting to know what the online public had to say about these lower line brands other than (visonik and digital audio)..someone had mentioned the spl series III amps are good, and they are right about that when it comes to a good bang for you buck....someone else said i must not be into sound quality if im using aura sound and audiobahn products(that tells me they have no idea what they are talking about,or have never used there products)....as for panasonic headunits, ive had nothing but good luck with them....

have you ever heard the expression, you cant make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t?well if you have the right enclosure you can make almost anything sound good, just ask toby,he makes his own speakers and boxes....posted_image

i have to agree with the others that said that panasonic has poor SQ.. I had one in my civic, aftermarket, and am returning it.. No soundstage, bass is limited to around 100hz, with no definition.   The factory Honda (made by Alpine) is better, yeah no kidding!!  I would suggest Alpine.. they aren't that much more $$ than everyone else's brand..

I have been using the top of the line panasonic....another great brand is(AMPLE AUDIO)there speakers are glassfiber woven cones, and the amps put out a hell of a bang for the money....good clean sound....
