Hey folks, I have a 95 vw cabrio, and Im putting a alpine component (type-R)system in the front and rear of my car and two 12" type-S subwoofers in the trunk, but what amp should I use? rockford has a amp that could push it its the 401S punch, 400w rms and 1200max at 2ohms. but I dont wanna get a rockford because the newer amps are not all that great of a design heat wise. alpine doesnt have a amp that can run this rms and max watts. the to subwoofers are 200w rms and 600w max. so that 400w rms and 1200w max. can anyone help me out. I want to stay with alpine.

Forget about the max power handling....
That rockford amp is 400x1 @ 4ohms (200x2 @ 2ohms)...the 1200 watt figure is something it well NEVER NEVER NEVER come close to pushing. Match up the RMS figures on the amps to what your subs need and you will be fine. The Rockford 401s dont have any problems cooling, and if you wanted an alpine there are plenty of them that will give you 400 RMS.
The only alpine amp I can find that is near 400 rms is only 350w or 340w rms. all the others are just over like 420 or 410 I was going to use amp per sub but I could only find 150w rms and 170w rms I think and 220w rms.
