Infinity 120.3DVCs with a JBL 600.1

Here is the situation. I have been working on getting a nice, quality, but cheap system for quite a while. As of right now I have a pair of Infinity Kappa 120.3DVC subs hooked up to a JBL BP600.1 amp. To my knowledge I am sending 300 watts RMS to each sub through the amp, which is exactly which is recommended. I did a lot of research before choosing these subs, and everything I heard about them was great. My concern is that, I think something is screwed up. Something has to be screwed up. My friend has a pair of BOSS W127 subs. They handle 600watts peak and 300 watts RMS. He has some kind of cheap amp that is "2500 watts". Since im pretty sure it is wired into a 4 ohm impedance on the amp, I think his 2500 watt amp is pushing maybe as much as my 600 watt because I wired mine to a 1 ohm load. I figure this because, the 2500 watt max amp is probably no more than 1,000 watts RMS total based on the size of the fuses on the amp, and because he has a 4 ohm load with 2 subs, i think each sub is probably getting 250 watts RMS. This is all estimations made by me, so if I'm really off just tell me. He has a dual 12 inch sealed box that probably has about 1 cubic foot per chamber. The fuse on the wire goin from the battery to the amp is only 30 amps, so he cant be takin much power pushin the subs anyway.... but thats not my concern. He and I were just messin around, and we wanted to see whose system was louder and better sounding. I had my pair of Infinity subs, JBL 600.1, and the subs were in my custom made box with 2.5 cubic feet per chamber. I have 4 gauge wire running to the amp for power and ground, and a 140 amp fuse (I know the fuse is way over kill, but my original plan was to get the 1200.1 but that didnt happen). I can't think of anything that would have stopped me from completely destroying his system in the little competition we had goin on, but his system got much louder and sounded better than mine. I think of BOSS as bein in the same category as Pyramid and Xblodes, but my Kappas had nothing on the BOSS subs. What the hell? Do you agree with me? Something has to be screwy somewhere. Of course my first response to this problem was that I was knowingly using a box that was waaaay too big, so today I put the Kappas into my old box, a sealed dual 12 inch box with roughly 1 cubic foot per chamber, which is what Infinity recommends. Didn’t seem to make much of a difference. The subs don’t get anywhere near as loud or have as much bass as the crappy BOSS subs. I could have easily gotten 4 BOSS subs for the price of the Kappas I got, but I thought I was getting great soundin subs that would last a long time. Today while I was switching the boxes, I noticed that there was a part of the Kappa sub where it looks like it has been welded and then painted over with a similar color which pisses me off cuz I bought them as new on eBay, but who knows, maybe they weren’t refurbished or anything. Anyway, can you think of anything that would make my subs not get very loud or deep? I’m just frustrated. I spent time researchin the product, then finding a good price, and then I hooked everything up myself. Where I think I may have screwed up is with the diagram it is only showing one output to hook up a pair of subs, while I used two pairs of outputs on the amp. Any kind of feedback would be great. I tried the cardomain link but it would not bring up the page. With the BP600.1 you would want to wire each sub to it's own set of terminals (since it is bridged internally). The 120.3 DVC's are 4ohm DVC's, so you were right about the 1ohm total load (if you wired it correctly). Each sub should be wired in parallel to achieve the 1ohm total load.

This site should work:  https://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=336982&page=8 .  If it doesn't, go to this site: https://www.cardomain.com/id/jollyigreengiant and look at page 8.  Right now I'm really frustrated.  My amp stopped working all of a sudden on Tuesday of this week, and because it is just the begining of football season I don't really have much time to mess around with it.  So I took subs, box, and jbl 600.1 out and I'm now running a pair of Blaupunkt 6x9s off of a POS swap meet amp.  That worked well enough, gave at least a little bit of sound, but now when I'm driving it tends to make a loud almost "popping" sound is the only way I can describe it.  Its the same sound that is produced when you screw with the RCA connections to your amp while playing music.  The RCA connectors are on tight, so I don't think that they are rattling around.  Any suggestions?  I'll check out my fuse on the 4 gauge wire that goes from the battery to the amp, but I'm seriously so frustrated and stressed between football and school I just don't feel like messing with it.  Oh yea, and I need to replace the gaskets on my exhaust manifold cuz my car sounds exactly like a go cart at mulligans.
