When i eject a cd out of my dvh-p5000mp, it goes into off mode where only the time is displayed, and the green light where the disc loads turns off, so i can't see where to load the disc. I thought that the illumination wire (black and orange on my 2000 Altima) was the problem, but it still doesn't work. Also, the deck is supposed to be dimmer when i turn my headlights on, but that doesn't work either.

I don't know if this is it, but there is an orange wire that isn't connected on my factory harness, i think it said illumination ground or something with ground. Is that the problem? If so, what wire do I connect it to?

if it truely is a ground wire just ground it any where on the frame where there is no paint.

The illumination wire from the headunit should be ORANGE / White (Orange with a White stripe). According to the12volt's wiring database, the OEM dimmer lead for a 2000 Nissan Altima should be RED / Yellow (Red with a Yellow stripe). Try connecting the headunit's illumination wire to that wire instead.
