I need some suggestion as to how to replace the HU and after market speakers with a 4 ohms load in a 95 caravan with an infinity system. I don't have much trouble the installation of a HU, but how the speaker wire is run is the part that I don't understand. How do I solve the load problem? a four channel amp will do. Can it be done without one? Is there anyway I can go about without re-running new speaker wires to all 6 speakers. Is their a plug out there I can buy and bypass the factory amplifier so that I don't have to re-run new wires. It doesn't seem like I could just slap on new speakers and a new HU and be on my way. The speakers comes with a unit on the side which I can see is wire in series. (That is just a guess here.) This is where I need your help guys. If any of you have replace an after market speakers to this car please let me know it would help me out a lot . Any suggestions will do.

Thanks in advance.

you can install new speakers in this system with out rewire or bypassing factory amp but keep in mind that the factory speakers in this system are 2 ohm by replacing with 4 ohm will cut power output

does your speakers in the minivan have an amp on each speaker?  i have worked on those before, you can just install the new HU and keep the factory speakers if you want but you HAVE to bypass the amps on the speakers.  its a little tricky to do but i know exactly how.   if you have that setup and need help on bypassing the amps...let me know...ill post instructions on how to do it

Is there any way you can PM me with that info. also?  I'm going through the same problem trying to install some 5"x7" in the doors and 6"x9"s in the rear.  I have a '96 Town and Country w/ Infinity System.  Thanks

I was looking for some info on my Plymouth Grand Voyager, and stumbled upon this site.  The problem I have is that the front right speaker does not work.  I don't know how to gain access to this speaker, what is the trick?  Just from studying the car it looks like I have pry the A pillar covers and then maybe pry the dash off?  I am nervous about doing this with the passenger side airbag staring me in the face :)  I have disconnected the battery but still.  Also, I would like to do the bypass trick and see if this fixes my problem.  I have a none infinity setup.  Sorry for being somewhat off topic but I am at a deadend :(

well heres the deal.  if you just have one infinity amp, then you can put a new headunit in and have no problems usually.  sometimes it will have to be bypassed in mitsubishi infinity systems. but in most chrysler vehicles, all the speakers will work.  but if you have an amp on each speaker then it gets tricky.  if you look at the harness going into the speaker there are four wires.  the two in the middle are the speaker wires coming from the head unit.  run the speaker wires to the blue and white wires on the other side of the amp.  blue is positive i think.  to make sure just pop them with a drill battery.  if it pops out then its in phase.

well actually u dont even have to bypass the amp if you get the right headunit.... get a hu w/o a built in amp and just wire everything else up including the remote turn on lead for the factory amp and itll work find i did it in my explorer just my hu is powered so its loud as f@@k

youre talking about a ford though.  those amps sometimes can be turned on.  were talking about chrysler infinity systems.  sometimes the amps have to be bypassed.   the systems with an amp on each speaker, similar to bose, have to be bypassed
