I was wondering if anyone knew how to have your faceplate mounted in a different location than the HU itself.  I have seen this done in magazines before.  How do you get the HU to work and communicate with the Faceplate.  I want to put the faceplate in my door panel, why having my deck in an extra DIN in my dash or something.   The car is a '97 civic dx 4 door.

You have to dismantle the radio and the face. Then you solder wires to the point where the face makes contact with the radio, then run the wires where you want the face and do the same to the face. You may also need to bypass a switch in the radio that tells when the face is in place. This is in simplest terms.

Does anyone know where to get the connectors that PIONEER uses for the face plate. Rather than solder on to the PC board I would rather use the connectors that they use and build a harness for it.

any help would be great, thanks.
