I would like to consolidate my two amps into one and would like to find a nice amp that will power my components and sub.
Currently I have:
alpine 3527s powering infinity kappa 605cs
amp is a 4/3/2, I have it in 2 channel mode and specs says it puts out 75watts RMS at 4ohms, which is plenty for my tastes right now. The amp doesnt distort for any volume level I use.
mtx thunder 275x powering audiobahn AW800x (8" sub in sealed box)
amp is 2/1, I am running the sub (2ohms) on one channel (the other channel is empty). Specs says that at 2ohms, the amp puts out 75watts per channel... so the sub is getting 75 watts. The sub is a 4ohm DVC (i have it at 2ohms now), 150 watts per coil, so 300 watts max. The amp is distorting at the top end of my volume range. I definitely think the sub is underpowered right now.
I'm shooting for:
2 channels, 4ohms, 60-100 watts RMS
1 channel, 2ohms, 150-300 watts RMS
I prefer the sub-channel to be classD. I noticed the kicker kx550.3, it has a 400watt(2ohm) classD coupled to a 45 wattsx2 (4ohm)... not bad but a little weak for the 2 channel portion. Anyone have any experience with these amps?
thanks for any suggestions.
Brad

Try a Memphis Belle model ST1300D. 300 watt class D mono sub out, plus 4X75 watt @ 4 ohm class A/B for mains (can be bridged.) A great amp.

Check out www.soundstream.com they have alot of 4-5 channel amps that are pretty awsome! they are a little pricey.
