im trying to find a headunit to replace a stocker in a 89 chevy cheyenne pickup, the stock unit it 6" x 3.5"...
do they even make headunits this size ?

You can use any HU tho, you just need to buy the Plastic harness for your car. The harness equals the size of the stock HU and then the new, smaller HU slides into it.

The harness would be the wiring for the aftermarket deck, so that you do not have to cut off the factory plugs. What Lebult is reffering to would be known as the dash kit, and yes this will allow you to fit a din sized radio into the din 1/2 GM opening.
