I don’t know about their new line, but in the past they have been very unreliable.

Maybe we can make some better suggestions, how much are you looking to spend and what are you powering?

I will tell you what sony amp are good for.....   PAPER WEIGHTS. The power out put really blows and they over heat quickly. They work just fine as paper weights or weight to put in the back of your race car to get traction.

My experience with sony amps have been good for mids and highs, but iffy for subs.  My first sony (XM-275) has been pretty good.  It worked for three years driving 2 10's and a 12 in tri-way mode (my early days of car audio) and then it needed to be fixed.  To this day, it's been driving two 10's in my sister's car and has been fine.

The other two sony amps weren't quite as reliable.  I used a 1002-HX? and an XM 2150SX to drive subs but they kept going into protection mode.  The 1002's right channel went completely at 2/3 gain and 1/2 boost, and the other is still ok.  Now I use the 2150SX to run 6x9's and it works just fine.
