Hey there ya'll I am just wanting to get everyone opinion on something that I am unsure on. I am getting ready to cover my doors in dynamat and want to know how important those damn plastic covers are? I am talking about the plastic sheet that covers the door and has that nasty ass black glue. Do I really need to put it back on after the dynamat? I know it is a vapor barrier but I just hate them. Any ideas would be great.

I normally replace the plastic cover with dynamat when I apply a layer to the outer door. .

Does it matter if I don't put the plastic cover back though? I know it acts as a water barrier to the door panel and the dynamat doesn't.

If you replace the plastic with dynamat it will act as a moisture barrier, as well as sound dampen the outer door panel. This is how the outer door panel should look https://www.b-quiet.com/big/instl035.jpg

all i have to say is i got into an accident once and they had to replace the door skin, (basically the sheetmetal on the outside of the door, and when i got my truck back the speaker on that side sounded like crap when i got it back, i pulled the door panel off and the plastic was gone, be careful to seal all the holes currently coverd by the plastic with the dynamat. trust AJ
