Hi,
I have a '95 Plymouth voyager van with the Infinity sound system. The 6x9's in the rear hatch need replacing.
I have a set of Infinity 6x9s pulled from a '02 Dodge Extended cab 2500 pickup (front door speakers), but naturally the plugs/wire colors are different.
Both of these speakers have the speaker mounted amp (or amp/crossover). If anyone has the speaker wiring for both of these vehicles, would you share it so maybe I can make these newer speakers work in my older Infinity system? If you need part numbers I can post them too.
Thanks,
Tired of the buzz..... Tom
Hey Tom, do the plugs match in shape and size?
The reason I ask is I have a "97 Neon and used the 5.25 front door speakers from a '01 Ram and they matched my hookup perfectly.
Nope, old ones have 4 connections, new ones have 6.
I'm not sure about the wire colors, but the 4 conncetion speakers are two way and the 6 connector speakers are 3 way. As long as the input of the speakers are directly from the HU the crossovers in the speakers will do everything else, doesn't matter if they are 4 or 6 wire speakers.

Jeff,
Thanks, that may allow me to figure it out. I wasn't sure what Infinity did there, I was under the impression that 2 of the 4 wire speakers lines were just power for the amp on the speakers. I did pull the cover off the old amp and it has transistors and an IC in it for amplification. But, maybe they superimpose the DC for the amp on top of the AC sound signal?? Then use a capacitor and split the AC (sound) off the signal and run it through the amp and cross-over? My old speakers have two sets of inputs after the crossover/amp, I assume one for the 6x9 low range (I hesitate calling it a woofer LOL) and one for the tweeter.
I guess I need to take an oscilloscope and look at the different signals to determine which sets of wires are bass and midrange or treble for my present 2-pair wires? Then just tie the mid-range and treble together on the six wires running to the newer speakers? That should allow the cross-overs to do their thing, right?
Thanks, I really appreciate this help! An awesome sight here!!
