Im installing some subs in a 1997 toyota 4runner with a stock radio. Im going to use a RCA speaker converter (the little unit you hook speaker wire from the radio and it gives you RCA connections)to hook the RCA cables up. But i need some help getting the right color wire for the speakers. It has all weird colors comming from the radio. I know you can take a battery and test the wires to see if its a speaker but how do you do it excatly? If anyone has a diagram or knows the colors that would help.

I would suggest that you tap the signal after the factory amp instead of at your head unit. The best thing to do is to tap into both of your rear speakers near the actual speaker its self. That will tell you the wire color, and also allow you tap into the signal after its been amplified. Below is a link to the wire diagram for your car. https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/detail.asp?info=alarm&year=1997&make=Toyota&model=4-Runner&ID=18941&type=Stereo  Note: there is a pink wire with a blue stripe this wire is located behind your head unit. It is the remote wire for your factory amp; if you tap into this wire you can use it as the remote wire for your sub amp as well.
