EQ connection help

Hi guys,

I am setting up my car audio EQ, can anyone point to me what have i done wrong with the following connection? or the connection is correct something wrong with the EQ.

EQ "input" ---->head unit "output"

and EQ "output" ----->AMP "input" ?

In general, that looks right. Are yu using line level (RCA) or speaker level signals? What kind of EQ is it? Is ithe EQ powered on? Does it have gain controls? Does it have output level controls?

Hi,

I am using RCA, it's a Sanyo EQ (dun know wat model sorri) , the power is on. with gain control there is a fader, a sub woofer slide, and a hi and low metter dispay. and lastly i dun know wat u mean by output level controls.

OK, in general, if you have the outputs from your deck connected to the inputs of your EQ, and the outputs from your EQ connected to your amp, check these things:

Set the gain controls on your amp and on the EQ to minimum. If the EQ has a "bypass" button, press it. Make sure the head unit, EQ and amp are all powered on, your speakers are connected to the amp, and all RCAs are tightly seated. Play source material in head unit. Play at 3/4 volume. Slowly turn up the gain control on the EQ. If you hear sound coming from the speakers, continue to set the gains on both the EQ and the amp properly. Then, set all the EQ faders to the mid position, un-press the bypass button and adjust to taste!

If no sound, try connecting the RCAs from the head unit directly to the amp to make sure you do not have a bad cable and that the amp is functioning (you can get female-to-female connectors at Radio Shack to easily jumper past the EQ.) Assuming the head unit and the amp function, then it is possible the EQ is defective. Get it checked out by a professional service center.
