Hey i just installed an alpine 4 channel amp for my front and rear speakers and whenever i drive the car now, i can hear the engine noise coming from only one speaker. I took it back to circuit city where i got it installed and they told me that it was a common problem with my car. I dont know if they are lying or not. But what i am persuming is taht maybe one of the rca cables is messed up or would that be a problem??? my car is a 2000 honda accord. Thanks
Well the two main things i think of when hearing engine noise is 1 the amp is not grounded properly or 2 they ran the power wire and rca cables together. Engine noise is a common problem but easily fixed if the install is done right.
I got rid of my engine noise feeding back though my amp by grounding my amp and head unit to the exact same place. The noise is still there at volumes where the music can't be hear but anything over a wisper floods the engine noise out so I mean why would I not want to hear my music ? lol
Tell whatever bone head at Circuit City who told you "it's a common problem" that you, then, expect they will have the solution readily available. DO NOT accept this as an answer, it is a blow-off from an idiot installer (or a penny-pinching shop) who does not want to take the time to fix your car. Force the issue. Talk to the manager and demand they do the job correctly. Installers like that give everyone a bad name.
You either have a grounding problem in your amp, your head unit, or bad RCA cables or a speaker shorting to ground. Make them fix it and do not let them stop until you are satisfied.
thanks everyone, what i did was i went and bought some new rca cables and ran it myself and got rid of the engine noise. thank you for all your replies
