wanted to know if anyone can suggest why my cig lighter fuse keeps blowing when i try to use it? i can't use cell phone charge adapter, radar detector, etc.I do have remote start installed, and trunk mounted cd changer with wireless remote. could one of these be tapped into cig lighter circuit? thanks.

is the factory radio still in your vehicle?  if so, then its possible the FM modulator is tapped into the cig lighter for ACC power.  what kind of vehicle is it?  i will be able to tell you how to get to it and what wire you are supposed to tap it off of.  the remote start has nothing to do with it.

If this is only happening when you 'plug ' an item in have you checked the holder itself is not shorting?

If your not too technically minded-As a means of testing only - Remove the holder and using an inline fuse (5amp) connect across your battery ie. earth (-) to holder casing, + to centre pin, then plug in your 'phone charger'or similar to test.

if all is ok, you,d probably be best to disconnect the original + wire and run a new in-line fused +wire to the cig.holder.At least this will enable you to use your other devices that rely on this to operate.
