I installed an amp and two 12" subs in a 1999 cougar.  i am running the remote wire from the radio fuse. it stays on and doesn't turn off when the car does.  where is the best place to run the remote from so it wont drain the cars battery?

Run it from the acc wire at either the radio or the ign harness. It is the wire that has power when the car is in acc and run.

The switched wire that auex is talking about should be a YELLOW /GREEN wire behind the radio. Be sure to check it with a voltage meter, it should have + 12volts with the ignition on and no voltage with the ignition off. Or you can open the interior fuse box and carefully take a voltage tester and find a switched circuit. When you find one that turns on and off with the ignition wrap a wire around the fuse and push it back in, and then use that as your remote wire.
