hey everyone.  this is my first post.  i was directed here by the forum at lexusownersclub.  this place is great!

ok, now to the question.  i'm installing a 12" JLw4 with a 150W Lightning Audio amp.  i don't want to drain my battery so i was thinking of installing a 1/2 farad lightning audio capacitor.  is that overkill?  do i need a capacitor with such a small amp?

thanks!

d

The general rule of thumb is 1 farad per 1000 watts. What all does your system include? If the only amp you have is the Lightening Audio, you don't need to worry about a cap. Aldo, the only way you will drain your battery is if a peice of equipment, such as your deck or amp, stay on. Then it would be like leaving your dome light on. What you would actually need to worry about is your alternator not putting out enough amps. With the amp you have you won't need to worry about that either.

Caps arent useful anyways. you dont have to worry about power drain. That isnt much draw anyways.
