I recently bought an Orion XTRPRO 2400 amp and will be hooking it up soon. My questions are what is the diiference between 0 guage and 1/0 guage wire if any. I will be using a 200 amp circut breaker near the battery. Will 0 or 1/0 do the job for power supply and if the power wire for some reason shorts out to to the chasis somewhere will the 200 amp breaker blow and protect the battery and electrical system of the car. The amp is rated 1200 @ 4ohms and 2400 @ 2ohms. Any input is welcome.

The length of your power wire will determine the gauge to be used, for this amp I would imagine that a 1 gauge wire would be more than adequate. Remember that electricity is like an algebra equation, what you do to one side you MUST do to the other. Your ground wire need to be the same gauge and connected directly to the battery, the assumed proper method off grounding is as short as possible, this leads to problems with resistance that by going directly to the battery does not happen.

I think either 0 or 1/0 would be fine
