i was installing a new stereo in my truck and now the interior lights won't come on and the stereo won't remember the time. i've looked at most of the fuses i could get to and nothing yet. any suggestions.

Please tell us all that you didn't cut the factory harness. In most cases relating to the stereo not remembering the time, more than likely you have the constant power lead reversed with the ignition lead. Meter these wires to confirm this. You may also have fuses under the hood, chech there. If you cut the harness off, there is a chance that you have either blown a fuse or damaged the circuit altogether. Take out the light and check with a meter for power or lack therof.

no i did not cut off the factory wiring harness that is never a good idea with the ease of going to walmart and paying 6 bucks for a scoche harness.  the harness from walmart and the harness that came with the stereo were color coded at least i thought...all the colors were there black, yellow, red, then all the speaker colors too.  i just did yellow to yellow and red to red. you think that yellow from the stereo should go to red from the dash? that was the only thing i was not totally positive about when i did it...but if that is the case why did my dome lights go off?

And where did you ground to? Most Dodge and Chrysler vehicles have a ground strap that attaches to the back of the factory deck, attach this to your new player.

yeah i did that too, grounding with the strap that was there...what i forgot to do before install was detach the ground from the battery so as soon as i plugged the harness into the stereo there was a tiny spark and the dome went out...thats i figure its just a fuse i just dont know which one...along with this is i go to school in Michigan's Upper pennisula and its been snowing pretty good...its hard to just throw up the hood and check things out in the snow, and thats why i'm looking for which fuse it is so i dont lose my hands to frost bite...thanks for the help so far, but got any other ideas?

i found the fuse...i searched around and found the owners manual...wow are those things helpful...turn out it was the 10 amp fuse in the 12 slot covered in a black casing on the left side of the dash.  hopefully this might help someone else in the future. thanks for the help guys.
