I drive an 03 focus se. i have preplaced the door speakers with kappa 5x7's. They sound really good, but I am looking for more midbass. My eventual plan is to have an alpine CDA-9815 along with either 1 or 2 kappa perfect 10.1 or eclipse alum 10's. I was going to be putting the component set in the q logic kick panels. they can fit up to 6 1/8" speakers. I was hoping to go with kappa perfect 6.1 or focal 165 A or KP. But none of these will fit in the panel. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a 6.5" component set that has a 6 1/8" driver or any way to modify the panel to fit it. I don't nkwo how to fiberglass nor do i really want to learn yet, so I was trying to avoid that answer. Thanks in advance.

To gain some more midbass get some sound deadening material to line the metal door skins (inner and outer) and stick er on. You are losing alot of energy (in the form of sound - midbass in this case) to rattles in the door. Have you thought about putting the components into the doors? You will have to make a mounting template for the drivers, sometimes you have to move the window track, but sometimes this area yields the best results. Try putting an XTC speaker baffle behind the speaker as well (they look like foam hats). Next add an amplifier to these speakers, the only way your deck will make 50w x 4 is to be struck by lightening. Good to see that you have a long term project set out, shows that yu want to do it right the first time and are willing to learn before you take the dive.

I was wondering if anyone has ever used the JL Audio VR600-CSi? They are a 6" component set. They should fit perfect in the 6 1/8" opening of the kick panels.

One more question, the inside of my doors have foam already in them. Is there a good way to take all this foam out to replace it with dynamat (or similar)? Or is the foam good enough?

Also, the deck I want is the alpine CDA-9813. 23 watts RMS. I am planning to use a JBL 600.1 and another amp for the components. My alternator is 110 amps. Can I afford  to use an amp for the door speakers? This system is going to take a while for me to build because extra money comes slowly. I will eventually be able to buy another alt, but for now I can't.
