I am very new to this whole car audio world.
So far the people that I have talked to basically say, dont by "crappy" stuff because all you will want to do is upgrade it to better stuff. I think this is a fair argument, because I would like to be able to move this stuff between vehicles(when a buy a new car). I am on a limited budget. I want stuff that will be crisp and hit hard, and impress my friends who have "cheaper" set ups of just the usual 2 12"s and a bad amp.
I am not sure if I even need 2 12s? I like the Eclipse Aluminum 12" which I heard today at Tweeter(wont use them for install, dont worry :) I think just one of those might be enough?? Or should I get like 2 Alpine 12" type-r? There are so many options out there, it is kind of scary.
Next problem is the amp. I am somewhat confused about amps right now, since alot of them cost alot of $$$. For example the JL Amps which can run preaty pricey. I think the JBLs might be a good deal....if I am correct then a JBL 1200.1 for $250 should push any decent setup??
Also, what else will I need as far as an amp set up kit, or capitors or anything else??
And does anything have a setup for sale, that I might be interested in?? AOL SN: Dlou87
Thanx so much, Dave
the eclipse aluminum sub is a great sub. its loud and got very good sound quality. as far as an amp....you get what u pay for. now a JBL amp is good, but u noticed the JL audio amps being very expensive and that is because they are one of the best amps on the market! as far as what sub is the best...i guess it depends on what your options are, meaning what brands do the shops sell around your area? let me know what brands of subs and amps and ill try to help u get the best deal for you money.

Sounds like you’re headed in the rite direction. If you’re looking to impress I would defiantly suggest that you go with the Eclipse Aluminum they are an amazing sub. 1 Aluminum will put out more sound then 2 type r's put together, plus I believe that the Aluminums sound cleaner then the type r. As far as the amp goes the JBL is defiantly the best bang for your buck. If you have the money I would go with 2 Aluminums and the JBL 1200.1. If you chose to go with 1 Aluminum get the JBL 600.1. You will need and amp kit, the kit will give you all the cables you will need to install your amp I would suggest you purchase one form Knukonceptz they have high quality kits at a reasonable price. If you go with the 1200.1 get a 4 gauge kit
https://www.knukonceptz.com/detail.asp?product_id=KOLAK4 and for the 600.1 you can use an 8 gauge kit
https://www.knukonceptz.com/detail.asp?product_id=KOLAK8 . As far as the capacitor goes it can’t hurt. It will act as a power buffer in-between your battery and your amp. Depending on your car you may need a high output alternator to supply the proper amount of current. As far as adding the sub and amp are you using the stock head unit?
