A good cd player, also a major supplier of laser mechanism to many of their competition. A good power supply and great mosfet amplifier stage, to expand your system down the road look for a model with front / rear / sub preouts, Panasonic should have a lot to offer you in this price range. Failure rate is extremely low, it is our second most frequently purchased cd payer, #1 is Eclipse.

I have the MXE CQ-DFX983U from panasonic and love it, you can also get the CQ-DFX983U which just doesnt have the MP3 thing. I would suggest it to neone and the graphics and everything are really tight. try etronics.com for it

dream it, build it, fiberglass it

eBay, onlnecarstero.com, woofersetc.com, millionbuy.com, electronic4me.com, sounddomain.com, crutchfield.com

crutchfield is a good place to research, but they have high prices. there are always stores like best buy, circuit city, good guys, or your local electonics shop's website too.

Between the 2 units the 903 is the better of the 2. I’m not a huge fan of Panasonic, and they don’t have very good sound quality either. If you’re not concerned about the esthetics of the unit I would suggest you look at Rockford Fosgate. They give you some good bang for your buck, plus they are a cd/mp3 player where as the Panasonic's above are just cd players. Here are some units @ Sound Domain https://www.sounddomain.com/shoplist~b~Rockford+Fosgate~t~MP3+Players but you can find them cheaper if you shop around

The rockfords look pretty good but I also like the 3DDM feature the panasonic cd players have. Ahh to many choices I dont know what to do.

The Rockfords are kinda expensive and the display is kind of weak. I like the 3DDM display which Panasonic has. How much better in sound quality are the Rockfords then the Panasonics?

I would check out the Alpine CDA-9807. It has an MP3 player, the price is pretty much right on, and the specs are better than most if not all other head units. Alpine is also reknown for its quality and longevity.

I believe that Rockford in fact uses a Panasonic hologram laser system, at least they used to. This means that although they share some basic guts, the extremities are probably differnt, radically differnt, well maybe. I have not compared a Rockford to a Panasonic for sound quality, but I will now. I have compared a Eclipse to Panasonic and the Eclipse blows the Panasonic away (and it should). I have compared a Eclipse to a Rockford and the Eclipse blew the Rockford away (and it should). It really depends on how it sounds to you. All the bells and whistles in the world are no good unless you are going to ring and blow them. Lots of people use different cd players to accomplish different things, as a panasonic dealer, former but still current Rockford dealer and of course Eclipseposted_image, I would personally choose the latter, then I would look at if I want a light show or not. An Eclipse is also an expensive cd player, but this is where quality is, you get what you pay for.
