I have a 2000 ford contour, I have the Power,Ground, remote, and accessory all wired up, using a wiring kit. But the the kit didn't include an adapter for this other plug, it's square, so I clipped it off thinking it was for the speakers, there are 8 wires with diff. color insulation, plus one that is bare. Usually i'll take a 9volt battery and put one terminal on a wire then start putting the other wires on the other terminal until i hear a pop, that is the way I find the speakers. But when I try this on these wires I get nothing. Are they my speaker wires? Or do I have a factory amp? I don't think I have the premium sound system from ford. It did have a CD player though. Sorry my message is so long but i wanted to be thorough.
So basically I need a stereo wire diagram.
Thnks
Sounds to me like you have a factory amplifier. Check under the passenger seat or under the rear speaker deck for a silver amplifier with cooling fins on it. Here is a generic wiring diagram for the FORDS, but this is just for reference so I don't know how accurate it will be: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/stereodetail/817.html
