make sure ya pop enough rivits in there... and brace the rack ... i dont know how you are gonna float it... i am making one for a MX6 right now out of just wood... and i have 4 braces on it for it to sit properly... just trial and error is all i can suggest... good luck... i would like some pics of the finished project

If you have access to a mig welder , you should use that because the amount of bass going through the trunk will be alot and screws, bolts and rivots tend to shake loose after sometime. If you don't have access to one then rivots would be my second choice. ------------- Jeff

You might want to try going to a exhaust fitter. I've done installs with floating amps before and I went to an exhaust fitter and got them to make up some brackets and stuff for me. He welded it all and it looked pretty neat.

By chance do you have a link to a picture of a floating amp installed? I've never actually seen one myself......

i was thinking of putting 2 rivets in each connection and maybe a drop or two of some kinda of glue just to give it a little more strength. im also going to run a few braces threw it too. i dont have a mig welder and i figure that it will hold the waite considering the JL Audio amps arent that heavy.any other suggestions let me know thanks

I read somewhere that you should not mount amps directly to metal/chassis of the car.....If you need to do this use rubber mounts/grommets/washers to mount between the amp and rack.

The only reason I know why you wouldn't mount it directly to the chassis is because of vibration. Just like you shouldn't mount your amp to your box (alot of people do). The vibration will shake the solder joints loose in your amp causing multiple loose connections. I would probably mount an amp to the chassis before I would a box.
