My crossovers are cutting out on my tweet when I play loud for a few seconds. I had the JL Audio crossovers connected to the 300/4 JL amp. I got tired of my ears not hurting so I had replaced them with some MB Quart crossovers and noticed that they light up the underneath of my dash where they are located.What causes this? Is my gain to high? I didnt have this problem before.

Are these passive crossovers? Which model? What's the power rating of the crossovers and what's the power rating of the amp you are using? I cannot imagine how a passive crossover could "light up the underside of your dash" unless it has an LED in it or something... now a powered crossover will have a power light....

Can you list the speaker and X-over models? Are you using JL components with a MB x-over?
The passive crossovers from MB Quart have tweeter protection built into them. The "lighting up" is caused by the light bulb in the tweeters circuit activating to protect the tweeters from damage. This is normal for MB Quart crossovers, sounds like you have either a reference or premium series crossover. It sounds like you don have your gain a little too high, or maybe the treble turned up or an eq with too much top end adjustment. Hope this helps.

As forbidden said you probably have you amps turned up to high. The purpose of the light is to reduce distortion and protect your speakers. The lights are normally connected to the sub/mid-driver. To test the light and see how it works remove all of the bass from your system before it reaches the crossover and see what happens. Add the bass back and the light should light up when the bass hits. This was a common method used by some of the higher performace audio builders to protect the speakers.
