If the amp is running briged at 800 watts you are looking at about 65 amps of current draw if it is running at 200 watts by 2 stereo your draw is about 30 amps so dont go larger tahn the 6maybe a 70 if you brige the amp and if you run stereo at 4 ohms then use a 30 amp fuse or so . It is better to under rate a fuse than to over so use the least value of fuse that does not blow at full volume the values given should be right.

But Ive heard that if you use a fuse that is to underrated then it will limit the performance of your subs. Is that true?

To calculate the fuse take the rms 800 divide by voltage 12.8 and you will get the amps 62.5. I would use a 60 amp fuse, which will give you the closest fuse rating. As far as a fuse limiting the performance of your sub it’s not true. The only thing that would happen is you would blow the underrated fuse.

a 60 amp fuse would be perfect ,and bberman is correct the fuse will only blow and cannot limit performance. it is better to under do a fuse thsn overdue and my original post had a typo dont use the 70 amp use the 60,good luck.
