Poor bass in my lexus trunk!

I have a 91 lexus ls400. I have have about 5 different enclosures in my trunk and I still cant get it to hit hard. The problem I am running into is that my trunk is solid. I only have an 8 inch hole in my rear deck lid for sound. I have pleny of power i just need some enclosure ideas. right now I am running 4 swiss audio 10's powered by a orion 2100 hcca amp. It hit hard only on low frequencies. the music I listen to(hip hop) is usually around 40-60hz. What should I do/ i talked to my friend and he told me to put a pair of kicker 15 inch l5's in there and call it a day. i dont want to spend money on those woofers if they arent going to cut it for me. have any of you giuys ran into this problelem? What I am saying is that you can put the box Im currently running  into a honda and irt would obnoxious. the same box in my car sucks. i am thinking bandpass ported through the read deck! Whatcha guys think? I am open for all suggestions! thanks Michael

as i was reading your delima, i was thinking put a port thru the rear deck. i say go for it. not sure what else to suggest. hopefully someone with more stereo smarts will reply too.

I had the same problem. I went with 2-12"s in a bandpass box ported through the rear deck where the oem sub used to be.

is ur current box a custom box or is it just a box u bought somewhere? and if u could i'd like to c a pick of ur setup and car

It sounds like you have a whole world of cancellation happening in your trunk, no matter if you put 2 15" kickers in or not, that does not address the problem, the bass waves are just bouncing around in your trunk and cannot get through into the cabin area, this means a different style of box to put all it's output through the existing port or you can try the racecar idea, they lighten a vehicle by drilling holes through it in non structural areas. If you have a solid metal wall behind the back seat, you may want to try this, however if your rear seat it made of leather, you still probably won't gain any benefit from it. I would try a different box.

The only way to go is to port through your rear deck.  I had the same problems with my Mercedes 300SDL. First off, the car is looooong.  2ndly, the trunk is big, solid, and practically soundproof.  I had to take out the first aid kit and drawer/box from the rear deck. Then I ported a 12" Infinity sub pushing 300W rms through the opening.  I don't get the balls-shacking bass I'd like (maybe should try a 15" with more power) but it really ain't bad, and it's better than nothing.  That's the easiest route to take.
