I have an XM capable receiver. Can i get any of pioneer's XM tuners to work with it? There are several models and some include the RF modulator and display that sticks on the dash. Is that kind directed cable capable with these receivers?
From what I have heard, they aren't making them anymore due to Pioneer having problems with XM. Unfortunately they are very hard to come by because of this.

That still didn't really awnser my question. If I can get a new or used Pioneer XM tuner from ebay for $30, and it's the fm modulator model, would it work, unmodulated, with the linx cable to a pioneer XM receiver?
I wasn't sure, so I gave you the information I knew. I was hoping someone else would answer the other part.
Here's some pictures of the two units (modulated and not):

Unmodulated

Modulated
As you can see, there is one extra port (a 1.8mm plug IIRC) on the FM modulated unit, which connects to the antenna tap. But it also has the plug that connects to the Pioneer head units as well. So my guess is that it will work. Although it might not come with the proper cable to plug it in, so you may have to buy one seperately.

If your radio is XM ready you can use one of the following XM Tuner.
GEX-P900XM or GEX-FM903XM, The only different between the two units is the 903 come with FM modulator for radios that are not XM ready.
Now Pioneer on 2003 came with two new units the GXE-P910XM and 913. The 913 is for radios that are not XM ready.
The only different betweeng 900 and 903 is will only display 8 characters on your radio display and the 910 and 913 will display 16 character on your radio display.
I have GEX-FM903FM and my recever is DEH-P550MP, I had both units for about one year and never had any problems.
I hope this will help you to answer you question.
if your head unit is a pioneer head unit and it is XM ready. then the tuner you showed will work with it. you dont need an FM modulator if your head unit is XM ready.
