Aside from the basic wiring differences, do both these types of wiring choices always give the exact same output?  It seems like they do, but this makes me wonder why anybody would choose one over the other.  I understand why somebdy would use one OR the other, but not one OVER the other.

They are different wiring configurations, which give you different loads. For example we will compare the diagrams for a 4 ohm DVC setup
Parallel / series https://www.audiobahninc.com/tech/wiring/parallel_series_dual_4_ohm.pdf
 And series parallel
https://www.audiobahninc.com/tech/wiring/Series_Parallel_dual_4_ohm.pdf
As you can see the 2 configurations yield different resistances

It's funny I looked at both of those diagrams before posting, but for some reason I only looked at wiring two subs.  For two subs, they are the same.  But, for any other number of subs, I now see the difference.  I should've figured there was something wrong with my thinking.  I am not used to looking at wiring diagrams for more than two subs.

I was only looking at two subs.  That is why I didn't see the differences.  oops.

just a thought but you cant  series/parallel or parallel/series a single DVC Sub. You either series wire the coils or parallel the coils...
