I'm shopping for a new car stereo and I'm thinking of getting a 15" DVC @ 4 ohm's.  When I'm shoping for an amp does it need to be a 2,4,or 8 ohm amp. How does wiring it series or paralle play a role and how would I wire it to get max power.

You can wire that sub up to either 2 ohm or 8 ohm, with it being 4 ohm dual voice coil.  2 ohms would give you the most power output.  What I would do is buy an amp that is 2 ohm stable bridged, or a mono amp, which is designed for this purpose.
