You said yourself that the box is junk, so I would build a new one. As you know the output of these subs, they will pressurize a box like no other. As far as 1.25 vs. 1.0 cubic feet, I really couldn't tell ya. I think bberman1 usually suggests 1 cubic foot, but I think Eclipse suggests a slightly bigger box. Good luck.

I agree. Why spend the $'s for high quality subs then go cheap on the enclosure. I think I remember Bberman1 recommending 1.0 as well.

you will be fine running those subs anywhere between 0.9-1.3cu feet. I have the model down from those and run them in a 1.1cu foot box. But also mine are 10's. Deepending on the sound you want i would say 1.25 would be better for overall performance.

If you up the power to the sub as well then the answer is yes.

well i can have a rms of 500 or 750 so what you all think? and isnt it less power the larger the enclosure?  also should i use 3/4 mdf or double up on 1/2 mdf?

Very true... my mistake there. That should be pleanty of power for that sub. If you want to be safe you can double up but i would go just for the 3/4 be warry it does flex quite a bit!!

I would suggest that you go with 1.25 cu/ft and build the enclosure out of 1 inch mdf. I would also double up on the baffle (2 inches) so the sub doesn’t pull itself out of the box and use       1-3/4 screws to mount the sub.

Forbidden in your opinion what is the optimal volume for Titanium’s? My personal preference for SQ/SPL is 1.25 cu/ft.

Would want to know a little more about the car's transfer function before I chose the final box. I would probably build two or 3 boxes and do some serious listening before nailing one down. My preference for both the aluminum and titanium drivers is 1.1cu.ft net volume for the 12" drivers, so pretty close to the volume you have recommended, which I assemed to be gross volume.

I have built many test enclosures for both the Aluminums and Titanium’s. I have tested them in many different vehicles and too have found that 1.25 (gross volume) seems to be the magic number.for best overall sound.

Just for reference, I have that Eclipse sub, and its in a 3/4" MDF 1.0 cf enclosure.....I am powering it with a JBL BP600.1 and it sounds great. I did not build the box myself, so i didnt double up the baffle, but thats a real good idea.  Anyway the box gives some real tight bass and killer SQ, but make no mistake this is a seriously loud sub.  Since I have never gone bigger than 1.0 cf, I cant reccomend anything else, but listen to Bberman1 hes the resident Eclipse man in this forum.

Home stores such as Home Depot etc do not carry it. You need to go to a "real" lumber yard.

I don’t know where you are but, out here in Southern California I can pick up the Aluminums for  about $250+ form an authorized dealer (with negotiations of course).

Now that's a deal dude, no doubt, even $380 is not that bad. I also use 1" or greater (like two laminated 3/4" pieces) when ever I build boxes for the aluminums. Do not mount that sub with drywall screws, they have a bad habit of breaking with that sub!

im being uptight about spending money on subs this time ive wasted so much, ive gone through a jl w3v2 12, 2 12" kicker comps, an old 18" cv studio speaker, and currently have alpine R10's which are the best ive had. i just want to know if i will notice a difference from the alpine to eclipse. the reason i ask now is because i can get two alpine 12's for the price i will pay for a eclipse alum. 12. also would anybody reccomend the MTX 9500 over the eclipse alum.?

which would be a better buy from a sq/spl point of view a 12" brahama or an eclipse sw8122? both would get about 500wrms/1000wrms in their own prespective box designs.

You will defiantly get more Spl from the Eclipse, and in my opinion the Eclipse is an overall better sub. As far as the price goes the MSRP on the Eclipse Aluminum 12 is $399.99 so $380 is not any kind of a deal. I know how you feel about spending money on subs. I was the same way I used to change out subs constantly because always felt I could get better sound. After countless mid and high end subs I finally tried Eclipse and they are the only subs that I have been completely satisfied with. I don’t know how many Eclipse dealers are in your area, but I would find your self a better price. Personally I would not pay more then $300 out the door tops.
