i got 2 jl audio 10W3V2 D4 . i wanted too power them with a ppi a300, but i was informed thats not enough power for both.  is there anyway i can wire the 10's too my a300 and get a good sound still, or do i need to go with just one 10 off the a300? i was thinking about buying a friends orion 250 hcca, too push the 10's, but the price is alittle much. any idea's?

I can't find any information on your amp. could you please tell us how many watts it pushed RMS per ohm load?

And what is the size of the fuse in the amp? Is this by chance one of the old school art series amplifiers?

That is definately asking too much of your amp. I would look into an amp that can push 300 watts RMS x2 @ 2ohms or 600 watts RMS x1 @ 1 ohm or 600 watts RMS x1 @ 4 ohms.

Send an e-mail to PPI and find out if that old amp is a "cheater amp". Some of those old school amplifiers from PPI could do some pretty amazing things with sub loads. Worth looking into.

I think you might be okay with the A300 and the two JL 10s.  Since each sub has two 4-ohm voice coils, you can parallel the voice coils on each sub to make them each a 2-ohm load, then connect the two subs together in series for an overall 4-ohm load.  The PPI A300 will put out 300 watts mono into a 4-ohm load, giving you 150 watts per speaker.  The RMS rating for those speakers is 300 Watts, so you won't be driving them to their full potential, but 150 Watts per speaker should still be pretty good.

Don't forget that the extra cone area from using two speakers helps the efficiency.  300 Watts total into two speakers should be louder than 300 Watts into a single speaker.
