Im thinkin about getting 2 audiobahn alum12q subs. I was wondering if you guys could give me some feedback bout these subs. Ive herd that they have good SQ and low SPL, then ive also herd they have a good mix of both with the right amp. I havent got an amp yet either and would like some thoughts about what kind to run, i can get a %35 discount on rockford and audiobahn products so it would be nice if i could run a model of those. Thanks for your thoughts.

If you get a discount on Rockford and Audiobahn i would suggest not getting audiobahn and getting 2 RF punch hx2 running on the 1001bd. Audiobahn puts their time into looks, not quality. let me know what u think.

See, i dont really know what to think, i was running a rockford 801s amp to 2 aw152t 15's. Which was a cheap way to go, but it hit good. But thats the only rockford product that ive had, every other system ive had, has been audiobahn or JL. I sold those aw152ts to one of my friends who hooked them up to a mono 1200 watt flame series amp, and it didnt sound as good as it did hooked up to my rockford amp.

Yea i would def go with the setup i gave you before cause it wont hit good it will pound. Let me know if you can get those ones. Make sure to get the 2 ohm subs so you can wire the amp at 2 ohm and run each sub at 500 watts

Yeah i can get 2 of those 12's for around 230-240. I dunno about the amp i would have to order it. What kind of box should i have built for those subs?

Def a custom one with the 2.5 cuft i think thats what they suggest. Make sure its 3/4 MDF with seperate chambers and A LOT of bracing, you dont want any flexing. I assume you are building this yourself, if not then you should. If you have any experience with fiberglass you could also add about 2 layers of glass to the inside for extra strength. let me know cause i would give you good specs for the box. I built one for 2 punch Hx2 15s but never used it. It looks tight though its all shiny dark blue.

Have a look again at those audiobahn subs, yes marketing says build it this way and they will come, but I bet you they have a high roll rubber surroun, aluminum frame (like the Rockford), dual voice coil (like the Rockford), aluminum cone (lighter than the Rockford & a better heatsink), designed for small sealed boxes (a little smaller than the Rockford), a way higher power handling than the Rockford and really good sq. Now I've played with both subs and have retailed both brands, they both have their +'s and -'s, but to say that Audiobahn only puts their time into looks and not quality is a definite misconception. I happen to think that the new Rockford amps are nice compared to their old gear, but you know what, it sure sucks blue whale for capabilities and build quality compared to the old gear, Rockfords answer to that is type RF, is it all time into making it look good or does it work good as well? It works fine thank you. BUy yourself what you like and what sounds best to your ears, buy what has the best value for you, all we can do is recommend and then help you after you have chosen.

ok, if i get the audiobahn subs, what kind of amp could i run in 2 to these subs, or, would the 801s punch amp push these, the only problem i have with the punch amp is that it runs very hot.

An amp is designed to get hot, a natural byproduct of amplification is heat, you have a class ab amplifier that may run at 60% efficiency, the other 40% is wasted power and of course heat. I would look for a class D amp for those big alum drivers, it will have a lower heat signature and considerably more output. If you already have the 801s, great use it for now but a bigger  amp is probably in your future. I'll have a look for some amps for you when I have the time.

What is the recommended RMS for those subs (alums) because i have a friend who right has 2 12s in the back of his suv and they do not sound as good as ive heard rockfords sound. And forbidden, i agree with you, but when limited to audiobahn and RF I personally would choose RF. If not limited to the 2 i wouldnt choose either.

ive worked with these subs quite  a few times and my personal opinion is that u get what u pay for  in other words ,those subs sound great as long as u build the correct enclosure ,proper power ,and of course wiring them up correctly ,those subs are 3-12ohm subs .,and 1000rms ,the best amp ive found for those subs was the 2300hct which i thought is perfect, but that amp is pretty costly its rating is 2400wattsx2 stable at 1ohm-or you can get the 2200hct which is 1600x1 either way  its plenty of power .those amps also sound great if you have 14.4 volts running to it  so theres my opinion go with audiobahn  get the good stuff and ,get earplugs
