I finally found a way to get speakers in the rear of my car. I gave up on the stock location as nothing I liked fit so I mounted a set of Alpine SPR-136A Component speakers in the panels next to the rear passenger seats. The tweeters are mounted up a bit to project the sound forward. The speakers sound great and put out a good amount of bass for such small speakers. I have posted pictures here:

I can't wait to get the SPR-176A's in the fronts now. I just need to make a fiberglass panel that I like. Three sets and nothing looks like I want it to.

good deal!

Very nice job with the component mountings.. I like that tweeter positioning.

The Pioneer is a nice blue by the way. I have an older DEX-M88 and it's got the same blue display. I always liked that too.. just need to get mine fixed. hehe (two of the display bulbs are out for teh buttons.. so it's half dead looking now.. but ah well.. it is about 10 years old.)

Looks good. My suggestion for the front speakers is to make sure that you have the tweeter and the woofer as close to gether as possible for the best imaging and sound stage. The farther apart they are the farther apart your center stage will be and this will be a waste of a decent set of speakers. Good luck with the rest of your installation.
