I am looking to purchase a 95 civic, yes its a civic, i know   how generic, but its a good buy. Well anyways, the guy who had it before had an amplifier, and instead of taking the amp power wire directly from the battery, (which I was always taught to do) the guy took it directly from the fuse box, now on honda's they have a large area on the fuse box where you can put it, but I dont know if this is a good thing to do, I can easily just run the wire back, directly to the battery, but if this way will work then I will leave it. thanks

If he took the power from the battery input into the fusebox it would be ok (assuming that you are talking about the fuse box under the hood), I would still recommend taking it directly from the battery.

It was connected to the battery portion of the fuse box next to the steering column, is this okay?

Absolutely not recommended. Go to battery for power.

direct from the batt.

Im sure it works, i wouldnt trust another persons work in a car unless i see certification.  Also, what if you upgrade, the fuse will pop from the load, and im sure the line from the batt to the line is thin.
