Hi everyone. I was just curious as to why people hook up more than one battery for their systems. I have a single battery, and my system works fine. I am gonna be gettin a more powerful amp soon, should I get another battery? How do you hook them up?

No, a second battery will only put a bigger draw on the alternator, address the alternator problem first. A battery can only give you power if the alternator can charge it.

ok, i didnt think so. Now, whats a suitable alternator to get? I am looking at running 2 amps. one 2 channel amp for my subs, and a 4-6 channel amp for my speakers. so, probably about a 100 amp draw from my amps alone. Any suggestions?

Your amps may draw that much power if they are running at full output all them time, take the issue a step at a time, do the upgrade and see if you actually need the upgrade, then if you do, which I expect you will, you can tackle the alternator issue. I am not an alternator man, but there are many people on here that can tackle that side of the issue for you. Make sure you post up the year, make, model, engine of the vehicle, the model# and fuse size of the amps etc., the more info the better.
