A square plug that i have never seen in a ford was pluged in unstead of the black harness does anyone know what thats for??? I did the install as usual with the black and grey harneses and i have power with no sound

If memory serves correctly, you have a premium sound system in there.  The square plug feeds to the input of the amp in the trunk, I think behind the carpet on the driver's side.  But, the usual black speaker harness is in there as a bypass.  You should be able to connect right in to that as you normally would.  It does have 8 wires for the 4 pairs of speakers, right?  If not, check out the Ford Harnesses from Metra and see which one you need.  Look at the 70-..., not the 71-...  Hope this helps...

There also "may" be a bypass harness in the car, look for the same type of plug that the power uses to the left of the radio, it will be plugged into something. You could also rewire the factory amplifier, I "think" it is behind the rear seat on the passenger's side.

ok i found the amp and the square plug does lead to the amp in the back but how would i rewire the amp without rewireing the entire car . I did a complete rewire on my supra with monster cable and the whole 9 yards. but this thing is a winter beater and i just want to put the cd player in  2  5 1/4" coaxials in front and the same in back and one sub . so i just have to get by this stupid amp.

You said, "...  The grey power harness was there but the usual black speaker harness was not connected to the radio it was just sitting in the dash."

Why don't you use that black plug with the 70-1770?
