I hope someone will be able to help me with a problem I'm having with my 2001 Suzuki Esteem.

Last week it appeared as if a fuse blew when I pushed the cigarette lighter in, killing both the lighter and my stereo. I've since, checked the fuses myself as well as having my mechanic check them with a meter.

The fuses are good, My mechanic has recommended going to a Suzuki dealership to fix the problem. This means $$$$$$$

I am personally more inclined to get under my cars hood for a wiring issue than to change my own brakes So I am hoping someone on this forum has encountered this before and may be able to help me.

I need to know what has occurred, what part may be blown or shorted, and how involved would the repair be. Is this something I can repair myself or would it be best left to the "pros".

When I say "repair myself" I should let it be known that I have installed both car and home audio systems, upgraded/repaired computers and have been known to change my own brakes.

I've also seen the dollar signs in the "Pro's" eyes when a woman walks into their repair shop with this sort of issue in their vehicle, and would like to be informed ahead of time so I may know what to expect.

Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

Regina

Have you try checking to see if there is another fuses box?   There maybe two. One underneath the hood the other is in the interior of the car.

The manual actually showed two locations, but I was only able to locate 1 under the hood. And I searched everywhere inside the car. There wasn't one located where the manual showed for under the dash.

I just install a cd player for this car two weeks ago. I never have to use the fuse panel, which would have help you out if I did. posted_image

There are a few common places that the fuse box are usually located. Inside the glove box, underneath the driver or passenger side kick panal, on the side of the dash(meaning when you open the door you will see the side of the dash), and in the back of the car if there is and amp(but very rare). Try lifting any plastic cover that might look like it can house some fuse behind it.
