I have a Alpine cda-7897 cd player installed in a underdash mounting kit in my 94 pontiac. When I turn up the volume past a certain point it starts to skip from all the bass. Which is very irritating, i've almost thrown it out the window a few times. I was wondering if anyones had this problem before?, if so what did you do to stop it from skiping?

You need to determine exactly what the cause is. By this I mean it can be of many sources.
(1) a voltage drop causes the cd player to not have enough power to track the cd properly.
- hook up cd player to a different battery - retest
(2) too secure of a mount
- loosen the mounts - retest
(3) an insecure mount
remount cd player - retest
(4) the shockwave of the subs actually causes the cd player to skip.
- remove cd player from vehicle and put on seat still wired, place a box of some kind over the cd player - retest
(5) the subs hit a frequency that causes the cd laser sled to resonate - very similar to up above.
- time for a new cd player like an Eclipse, laser sled is tuned to resonate at 19hz.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
iv had it happen before, i sent it back for warranty and they replaced the "suspension" inside the cd player. It was a cda-7893.
yea i have the same CD player as you and the same thing happens to me!! it drives me up the wall!! im trying to show off in front of friends and people of that nature and the crap skips. i payed way too much money for the thing to skip so im gonna see if i cant do what forbidden said and see if that worked and if not im gonna take it back, its still under warrenty.
