crossover set on axis or off?

i keep hearin stuff about omponets cross over set on axis or off. can someone explain what that means ?? im dieing to learn. i install my componets (diamond audio m3) in my car about a month or so ago and i saw that lil jumper on my cross over and i just want to know if it right or wrong. it think they are off axis? is that right or wrong

I'll double check, but I think the behaviour of the speakers can be optimized depending on which way they're facing. If the speakers point pretty much directly at the listeners, that would be "on-axis". If they don't point at the listeners, I would select "off-axis" to compensate for the placement of the speakers. This is more important for the tweeters than for the 5.25" speakers, obviously. Make your on-or off-axis determination based on where the tweeters are pointing.

i mounted my tweeters right nex to the door window where the door panel cover where the mirros are mount
