i have a set of the xr's, the only time that the treble gets harsh is when you crank up the treble 
... i like em alot, but im thinking about going to some koda 6.1's because i want the best sq out there... but i tried them right next to the mb quarts in the price range and i like them better... smoother bid bass and less harsh on the treble
