yes,i'm trying to put in a stereo but the car has an external brain box somewhere and i can't find it.

Check in the trunk mounted to the power antenna. The radio's tuner box should be there.

the power antenna is on the right front fender not the trunk.I've serched the trunk for the box but can't find it.

the brain is under the drivers side dash high up inbetween the steering column and the radio.  it's a little pain in the pooper to get to.
