I am installing new speakers and amplifiers in my new toyota camry. I want to keep the factory reciever but don't want to degrade the sound quality with a line output converter. I understand that it is possible to open up the reciever and tap into its preamp board. Does anyone know how to do this, or where I can find information on doing this?

I could do that most likely but it isn't an easy task if you don't know your way around PC Boards. I'd recommend this. get a line-level converter, and go straight into an Audio Control Line-Driver. This will allow you to take that signal and turn it into a solid 9V line level signal through the Audio Control's pre-amp. you'll have great results. Much better than anything you'd even get with straight line-outs on the factory stereo since I don't think it'll be supplying a 9V or 12V signal for ya. probably not even a 4V
