Would it be possible to run two jl 10w6v2 at 4ohms powered by an Ample Audio Exonic 1500dx amp. The amp is 800w x1 @ 4ohms. The subs have a 400w rms rating.

one more question...   Would it be better to run the subs at 4ohms with this amp, or get a different amp and run the subs at 2ohms?

Wire your subs in series - parallel https://www.audiobahninc.com/tech/wiring/Series_Parallel_dual_4_ohm.pdf for a 4 ohm load on the amp for 800X1 watts total or 400 watts per sub

Yes, you can run (2) 10W6V2's at 4ohms. Since they're 4ohm DVC's, you would wire them in series/parallel for the 4ohm total load.

I haven't heard of the amp you listed above, but I would choose a Class D mono amp over a Class AB amp for subs any day (since the sub performs the same at 2 and 4 ohms). If you ran those subs at 2ohms, you would need to either use (2) Class D amps or (1) Class AB 2-channel amp. If you can get the required wattage from a quality Class D amp at 4ohms then IMO go for it...
