I have a 2001 Chevy impala and need wiring info.

Does the 01' impala have a factory amp in the truck? If so where can I get the wiring code colors to use a high end tap for my MTX 5400 amp?

It should not have a factory amp. Why dont you just go off your rear speakers in the rear deck. Thats the easiest solution. Should be

DK Blue RR+
Lt Blue RR-
Brown RL+
Ylw RL-

Some Impalas do have amps and some don't. The problem with these factory amps is they kill the bass at high volumes to keep the speakers from blowing. See here: https://www.impalahq.com/. Go into How-To, scroll all the way to the bottom on the right.

To keep the bass from reducing at higher volumns, turn off the auto tone control function (ATC) on your factory radio (if it has it). You will have to consult the audio system owners manual, but I am told it can be defeated.

If you're putting your amp in back i wouldnt reccomend taking a speaker level signal from the back speakers. preamp signals sound a whole lot better because you get a clean 4 volt signal. Just connect a speaker-level to line-level adaptor to either your front or back left and right positive and negative wires in the wiring harness to your radio behind your dash. Run RCA cables from their to your amp.
