HEy folks, I need a nice subwoofer that is close to the sound of a JL audio w7, but not at that price. $500 is a ton of money. SO whats the better subwoofer. Sealed box only. ALPINE TYPE-R 12" MA AUDIO COM XL 12" KICKER SOLO BARIC L7 12" or 10" ELEMENTAL DESIGN e12O.44 / .14 ETC.... ------------- give me info

Consider the Eclipse aluminum and Lightning Audio strike aluminum drivers, both work in small sealed boxes. Have metered both drivers used in pairs to levels over 140 db with sq to match. I prefer the Eclipse, they are more expensive, but definitely worth it. ------------- Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

If you want the closest performance to the W7, but at a lower price then check out the Adire Audio Brahma or Resonant Engineering XXX.

why not go with a kicker solo baric 15" square sub, (i think the L7's are the square subs) the store i shop at has one and it rumbles the entire store...and the store is pretty big

Personally I would go with the Alpine out of the list. They sound good for SQ but don't get extremely loud. The kicker sounds pretty good in a ported box though. This is one of the personal preference deals so you should go and listen to them and let your ears decide for you.

if your considering alpine, you may also want to try out the infinity kappa perfect series. personally i think they sound better and are louder than the alpine R series.

Try a JL audio W6. They are less expensive but still share some of the W7's patented technologies. They would be great for SQ or SPl. Hope this helped you. -------------

I would go with the JL audio w6v2..you can achive very good sound quality and a lower price then the w7...i know one 10inch w6v2 with approite box and power can produce 147db..i have seen it done and still have the specs for the box.

You should be able to find a 12" W6v2 on sale for $280.00 to $300.00 or maybe the first generation W6. I dont think the first generation W6 is much different from the W6v2.

novavaine, really should check into the kappa's they retail for 308 but you can usually get them on the net for around 130 with full warranty.

You can get a new 10w6v2 on ebay for 230 plus 20 shipping. The seller is Mik3y00. I have bought from him and he seems to have the cheapest prices on new JL stuff. A 10w3v2 runs about 125 I think. Infinity Kappa perfects can be had for under 100 on ebay also. Haven't seen much Adire stuff.

i still would say one 10 w6v2, the sound quality and power handling and xmax is far beyond those subs....i know you can get them off ebay used for $200 or under....i would spend the extra $100 or so to get a lot better sub in my opinion

I have to say to go with the JL Audio 12w6v2 there a little pricey but are well worth the money, placed in the correct enclosure and it will hit like hell. The sound quality on the JL subs are also excellent and can't be discounted, on the other hand I have personally heard Adire's stuff and they really do sound good. You will have to go to an Adire authorized dealer as I haven't seen their stuff on the web, you can also go to their website and buy direct. https://www.adireaudio.com/

Don't forget to take into consideration the box size required for the sub that you choose. Would hate for you to spend money on something you won't be able to use because your vehicle won't support the box size. JL Audio 10W6 would be my recommendation. Maybe a little more than what you would like to spend, but they are worth every penny. And they only require .625 cu. ft. per sub. You can wire them in many different configurations as well, to get 4 ohms, 1.5 ohms, etc. ------------- VEHICLE: 2002 GMC Sonoma ZR2
